Lunchwalla Makes College Life Easier

by Michael Clemente on May 19, 2010

So, you are heading off/back to College in the Fall. Where are you going to you eat off campus? Where can you catch a movie? Where are all the cool things happening?

The answer is on Lunchwalla. If you are a Freshman, amaze your new friends by knowing your way around town. Find all of the good out-of-the-way restaurants. Know which movies are playing and where. Know which bands or teams are coming to town and when.

Of course, Lunchwalla isn’t just for Freshmen. For those upper classmen heading back to college, Lunchwalla helps you get your regular crew together for fun in a diplomatic way. Its Friday night, and you want to get everyone together for a little food before you head out. But there are so many choices. Select a few and put it to a vote!

But what if your local party spots aren’t in the database?  How can I send out an invite and vote on where to go Friday night if the locations aren’t in the database?  Easy.  If you go to your Places, you can manually enter locations.  Enter the local party places. Invite friends.  Let them vote.  Have fun.

Are you in a Fraternity/Sorority, club or some other organization?  Do you want to be able to send out an event invitation to your Facebook Friends, as well as people in your email address book and be able to see who is coming all in one location?  Lunchwalla makes it easy.  Import your email address book.  Schedule the event.  Invite either individual Facebook friends or post an open invite to your Facebook wall.  Lunchwalla will track all of the attendees whether they have a Facebook account or not.

Why are we writing this blog post now and not in August?  Because we want to remind you to sharpen your Lunchwalla skills over the summer so they are fresh when you head back to campus.  Have a great summer.  Plan Away!  Have Fun!

Lunchwalla adds Invite Facebook Friends

by Michael Clemente on May 10, 2010

The Lunchwalla Development Team has released their latest addition to the Lunchwalla experience. You can now invite your Facebook friends to any Lunchwalla event directly. After you plan your event, there is now a link that allows you to invite your Facebook friends.

Right above the “Event Status:” are now two Facebook links instead of one. The first is the regular “Post to my wall” link which just allows you to post the event information to your wall. However, it does not allow your Facebook friends to RSVP. The second link (Invite Facebook Friends) is the link that allows you to either make your event an open invitation by posting the invitation with the RSVP link to your Facebook Wall, or a private invitation by sending the invite to the Facebook Inbox of the friends you select.

The default dialog box allows you to post an open invitation to your wall, essentially allowing all of your friends to RSVP.   However, if you only want to invite some of your Facebook friends, there is a link at the bottom of the Facebook dialog box that allows you to send the message directly to the selected Facebook users’ Facebook Inbox.

If you don’t get invited to an event or lunch with your friends, do you feel left out? Sad?  Angry? Don’t care?  If you get invited to join the poker party are you happy you made the cut (even though you know you stink at cards and are going to lose your money anyway)?  Well [...]
